Cat Protests and Lost Avatars

October 30, 2008 at 1:28 pm (Random, Video Games)

My doctor is out to get me. I know this because he put me on some medication that is messing with me. Headaches and drowsiness with an added dose of My Brain Is Not Functioning Properly (this is where I add the disclaimer about my brain never functioning properly).

Anyway, I started a new character in WoW last night. I was just messing around in a newbie area when I went into a cave. And got lost.

Note: I have a pretty good sense of direction, in real life and in game worlds. But for some reason, my brain got confused as hell and my character kept getting turned around and she was walking into walls. Monsters were getting ready to re-spawn and my character was flapping her hands and screaming “I need an adult!” and then all of a sudden I found the exit.

I blame this all on my doctor, of course.

Adding to my confusion is the growing certainty that my crippled cat is planning on killing me. Now, my husband is out of town. Charlie, the crippled cat, is very attached to my husband. They play fetch with pieces of paper together. The game lasts until Charlie rips the paper apart in a fit of kitty excitement.

When my husband leaves town, Charlie goes to the bathroom outside of the litter box. He only does this when Hubby is gone and he does it right next to the box. And sometimes he does it while looking defiantly into my eyes.

I believe Charlie is protesting the temporary loss of his friend. I believe he is about to start a revolution in this apartment. I believe that my life is in danger.

Or Charlie is kind of stupid and when the pattern of his life gets disrupted, he shits outside of his litter box. But that doesn’t explain his little Che Guevara shirt or the revolutionary pamphlets I found hidden in my cabinet.

Fight the power, Charlie. Fight the power.

WoW Zombies

October 24, 2008 at 2:05 am (Random, Rants, Video Games)

A world event has come to Azeroth. World of Warcraft has been invaded by zombies in preparation for the expansion The Wrath of the Lich King.

Now look. I’m a casual player. I don’t group for raids, I don’t PvP, and I don’t work hard to get epics. I’m a loner who enjoys the dynamic and changing world of Azeroth. Annnnnddddd . . . I think this world event kicks all kinds of ass.

There are many complaints about this world event. The people who want to level their character but can’t because the quest givers keep getting killed hate it. I understand how frustrating it must be. But . . . it’s a zombie invasion. Go with it.

And then there are the people who want to become zombies (oh yes, your character can become infected and become a zombie) so they yell at anyone who is killing the zombies.

Look, dummies. It’s obviously part of the lore of the world. People get infected, become zombies, and are then possibly killed by other people. This is not that hard. So stop yelling at people for killing the zombies and stop yelling at the zombies for infecting you or killing NPCs. Jesus, if you’re getting that pissed over a video game then you might want to log off for a bit.

I was killing zombies in Sentinel Hill tonight. Someone yelled at me to stop. No, not going to happen. So you know what happened? This big horde of zombies turned on me—they came up behind me and infected me. And you know what I did? I laughed and waited for my character to change to a zombie. Not hard and not upsetting.

Gee, I must have been wearing my patented Big Girl Panties.

I wouldn’t post this at all except that McCain and Palin have used the whole “elite” thing. It’s the same as McCain’s rantings about socialism while he takes a government check that he doesn’t really need—it’s icky. <—Technical term that I’m sure you don’t understand. :P

Here Ya Go

October 21, 2008 at 1:39 pm (Politics, Random)

Oh look! A shade of gray in what the Republicans want us to believe is a black and white world!

ETA: I saw a military vet in a wheelchair yesterday. He was on the side of the road and he was begging for money outside of Best Buy. But that’s OK because I’m sure he’s done something wrong or he’s just lazy or he didn’t marry a rich woman.

Also, Obama is a socialist.

ETAAgain: Also, I have an uncle who is a Vietnam vet who is struggling right now to get the government to help him with his medical bills. So fuck McCain. I started out thinking “Well, he served so he deserves a pension” but now I’m like “Screw him and his 100 houses when there are veterans out there every day who can’t get help from the government they went to fucking war for and he’s getting disability and still working and climbing the Grand Canyon and my uncle can’t get anyone to listen to him and I still wouldn’t have such a problem with it if McCain didn’t go on and on about socialism and how Obama is going to take our money and give it to people who don’t need it or deserve it so go to hell, John McCain.”

My brain is just full of run-on sentences like that.
