Here Ya Go.

Read this. And laugh. Or cry.

“I’m just a little bit shocked myself that a college in good standing would back up students who insist that people who have been through college and have a master’s degree, a couple actually, have to teach that there were such things as talking snakes or lose their job,” Bitterman said.

Go here to kill people. Don’t worry, it’s just a video game.

A video game where you kill people!

Thanks to The Cupcake Kid for the heads up. She knew it was my kind of game.

I’m Stealing!

September 25, 2007 at 2:46 pm (Feminism)

In a discussion of why some men fight against feminism so violently, bstewart posted a great point, one which I had never really thought about.

This enters, for me, into a larger discussion, and one well outside the purview of this thread (sorry!), but it occurs to me that the notion of capitalism as exercised in America is not just to profit but to profit by completely squashing all competition. No, this is not unique to the American business scene but it is elevated to an art t/here. Any sharing of wealth between competing corporations (or, in a social sense, of rights or privileges between “competing” genders) is deemed contrary to the business/male supremacy ethos.

It’s unsurprising that the behaviour of marauding investment types is very much like the behaviour of marauding sexist/racist/homophobes. The wealth must not, under any circumstances, be shared. Frackin’ commies.

Is that part of the reason that some men see equality for women/homosexuals/minorities/whoever as an actual attack upon their manhood? As an attack on their rights?

And rights to what? It’s amazing the way some people never realize their own privilege. The way some people will go through life and argue loudly for their rights to do whatever but, at the same time, argue against other groups from having those same rights.

Why does female equality, for some men, automatically mean their rights are being taken away? Are they that unaware of the privileges their gender gives them in society? Or do they just want to hold onto those privileges by any means necessary?

Round Up

Ewwwwww.

Hope the food at the party is in better taste than the idea behind the fundraiser.

I bought Krypto in Norfolk and she’s white. Wait, does that mean I’m racist?

Ugh.

Watch for falling statues. From space.
