I’m Reading Blogs Left and Right Today!

A little gender deconstruction.

A little stupidity from an anti-feminist—but don’t worry, it’s a woman this time!

My all time favorite saying about the power women possess was revealed by author Samuel Johnson in the 18th century: Nature has given women so much power that the law has very wisely given them little.

Yes, folks, that’s a real article. By the way, women, your power comes from birthing babies. Now get to work!

I love it when someone else recognizes Frank Miller’s suckitude, especially when he’s writing women.

Still ranting about the “vaginal hive mind.” This guy makes me laugh.

You know when you’re debating feminism and some person always throws up this old article from Tomato Nation (usually to make themselves feel better about where they stand—or don’t stand—on feminism)? Hit them with this—well done, Mike. Well done.

Racism

September 6, 2007 at 1:34 pm (Feminism, Random, Rants)

You know, as a white person, I would just like to point out that white people have it rough too. First of all, I’m not totally convinced that there’s a racist system in place—even if I were black, I would probably only come into contact with personal evidence of racism. But a whole system? Surely it’s being overstated. But, you know, as a white person, I believe that white people are more psychologically abused by black people than black people are by white people. I mean, I want to say that white people are victims of violence from black people but if evidence is shown to me that proves that statement wrong, I’m just going to go back to the psychological thing. Can’t disprove that easily, can you? Plus, I totally think black people complain about it too much. Fine. Let’s just say there’s a racist system in place—which I don’t believe. But OK, let’s say it’s there. So? Just work hard, black people, keep your mouths shut, and eventually, you’ll get total equality—which you totally have right now, by the way.

Offensive? Obviously. But what about now?

You know, as a man, I would just like to point out that guys have it rough too. First of all, I’m not totally convinced that there’s a sexist system in place—even if I were a woman, I would probably only come into contact with personal evidence of sexism. But a whole system? Surely it’s being overstated. But, you know, as a guy, I believe that men are more psychologically abused by women than women are by men. I mean, I want to say that men are victims of violence from women but if evidence is shown to me that proves that statement wrong, I’m just going to go back to the psychological thing. Can’t disprove that easily, can you? Plus, I totally think women complain about it too much. Fine. Let’s just say there’s a sexist system in place—which I don’t believe. But OK, let’s say it’s there. Pay Attention

September 6, 2007 at 12:37 am (Comics, Feminism, Random)

Just a couple of great posts for you to check out. Here’s the fan-boy anti-feminist Bingo card. And here’s just a great post about female comic book readers. She writes:

Now, telling feminists to take off their shoes and leave them at the door when they enter the realm of work by Important White Men is typical of anti-feminists.

Indeed. I’m learning that personally. ;)

More discussion about the MJ statue. And here’s a little something for feminists in general.

Look, people: either you stand for something or you don’t; either you’re counted in that number or you aren’t. But everytime you offer up some mealy-mouthed prevarication as to how you really do believe X but never say so because of Y, you do a disservice to yourself and all the people who are prepared to stand behind their beliefs.
