Heroes

The finale has come and gone and I was a little disappointed.

The fight scene left a lot to be desired. Why in the world did Peter send Nikki back over to DL when she could have helped him? Girl was kicking all kinds of butt.

And “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World?” Why? She did nothing. Nothing. Being the cynical feminist that I am, I think it may have had something to do with the whole end fight needing to be between two guys. The women, in the end, were just there watching. Lame. And irritating enough where the  idea of punching my TV screen flashed through my mind.

Yeah, I was slightly disappointed. Maybe I had built the finale up in my mind so much that there was no way it could actually match the idea of it. Or, the writers put too much in and the story became too convoluted even for them to keep straight.

I just think when the first part of your season has a tag line—Save the Cheerleader, Save the World—then maybe you shouldn’t forget that tag line by the end of the season. Then again, maybe she’ll save the world next season.

Speaking of—what happened to Hiro? Interesting set-up to the new season. I like Hiro but I’m beginning to see why a lot of people have problems with him. Every Asian man stereotype seems to be rolled up into this one guy. I don’t know. I guess you could say the same about the junkie-artist stereotype and the untouchable-beautiful-dream-girl stereotype.

Oh well. The whole Internet will be buzzing about the finale. Everyone will pick it apart and share how they think it could have been better. My only real suggestion is this: Spandex. It always works on superheroes. And whenever the show gets slow, add more spandex. It’s the secret to every societal ill. Spandex.
