Do It. Don’t Say It

April 30, 2007 at 12:00 am (Random, Rants)

Ah, yes. The Nice Guy Syndrome. You’ve all heard the theory: Girls always leave the nice guys for the bad boys. Yawn.

Here’s an idea: spend more time being nice rather than claiming that you’re nice. Truly nice guys—let’s call them good men—don’t spend their time acting like they’re owed sex because they held a door open. They also don’t get mad when they’re turned down and then decide to denigrate the whole female gender.

Yeah, you’ve heard it. “Chicks don’t get me.” Or even better, “All women want is a guy with a cool car/job/money.” How about a guy that doesn’t spend all his time talking about how nice he is and actually does something nice? How about a guy who doesn’t think that women should be falling all over him simply because he isn’t mean to them?

This may come as a shock to you, but you shouldn’t be nice to get laid. You should be nice because it’s the right thing to do.

Of course, this syndrome exists in women too. But there’s always a way to tell if someone has come down with the Nice Guy/Person Disease: if they spend more time telling you how nice they are than they spend actually doing nice things, that’s a sign. If they have to prove to you—whether through loud statements or long lists—that they are nice/kind/sympathetic then they aren’t any of those things. They are a carrier of this plaque and should be avoided at all costs. Don’t worry—you won’t miss them when they’re gone. Your life will be better for it.

Penance

April 30, 2007 at 12:00 am (Random, Video Games)

When I listed my favorite video games I failed to mention The Legend of Zelda. And for that I may have to go to Video Gamer Hell. But until then I’ll just post a video of the latest installment in the series and hope that it makes up for my horrible mistake.

This Guy Is Crazy

April 27, 2007 at 4:13 pm (Politics, Rants)

And possibly, all kinds of awesome!

Listen, this guy may be crazy but it’s kind of nice to hear a politician speak his mind. It’s so rare. Also, it’s nice to hear the frustration and anger that a lot of people in the USA feel verbalized in a live debate.

It’s a shame the potted plant didn’t get more airtime. Isn’t crazy supposed to make good TV?

Children Disgust Me

But I did like this video. So why should I be the only one who suffers from the smiles of children? May they haunt your dreams.

Boy, This Movie Stunk

April 27, 2007 at 12:08 am (Comics, Movies, Random)

But for a little girl who adored Superman, it was a godsend. I could like Superman all I wanted, but I couldn’t be Superman. Then this movie came out and I finally got to stick the towel in the back of my shirt and pretend I could fly.

Enough of the nice memories. What you need to notice is that the guy—who might have got away from the runaway tractor if he had, you know, stopped looking over his shoulder—is really the woman in this scene. He’s not wearing high heels but he sure is falling down every couple of feet like he’s got on 6-inch toe-pinchers.

Plus, he looks dirty. Don’t kiss him, Supergirl! He’s filthy!

It Freaks Me Out

April 27, 2007 at 12:07 am (Video Games)

There are a couple of video game series that I follow. Love the games and I’m always excited about a new release. Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, and Suikoden all have a special place in my black heart.

Another series that I love is the Silent Hill series. In my opinion, Silent Hill is much scarier than Resident Evil. RE has a couple of jump-out-at-you moments while SH has a smothering atmosphere of dread. Also, the music is awesome.

I Had All the Playsets Too.

April 26, 2007 at 12:08 am (Random, TV)

I wish I could find my old She-Ra toys. I didn’t butcher them like I did my Barbies. Looks like it’s time to go searching through my parents’ attic—hopefully, the Barbies will not decide to take their revenge when I’m up there alone.

And why does it make my uncomfortable?

 Is that Mr. Bean?

Here’s some more to keep you awake at night.
